A tutor should help with an international student’s daily issue, language problems and specialized academic matters under the guideance of a supervisor.Eligible International StudentsIn principle, international students who has been in Japan for under a year since they arrived in Japan are eligible for requesting for a tutor. However, even though it’s less than a year since they arrived in Japan, if they have stayed in Japan for more than a year in the past, they are not eligible.Eligibility for becoming a tutorIn principal, they have to be recommended by a supervisor of tutee from regular students related to tutee’s major field of study. However, if an international student becomes a tutor, he/she has to have been in Japan for over a year. When a tutor is recognized as an excellent tutor, he/she can tutor up to two tutees at the same time. And also, in consideration of burden to a tutor, two tutors can take care of a tutee by the judgement of a supervisor.Procedures for TutorA student who is recommended to be a tutor by a supervisor needs to take the following procedures in the first month of tutoring. However, the report for March must be submitted by mid-Match.The work report should be completed each time the work is performed. The details of the work should be filled in specificallyNote that you will not be paid if the report is not submitted by the deadline without prior notice. Based on the implementation report, a pay for the number of hours implemented each month shall be paid to the tutors. The pay will be paid monthly, after deducting income tax, and remitted to each tutor&#8217;s designated account. In principle, payment will be made on the 15th of the second month following the month in which the tutoring is conducted (or the next working day if the 15th is a holiday) after confirming the implementation status of all tutors (for example, payment for April will be made on June 15). If you are already a residence of Japan and move to Saga city, please bring “a certificate of moving out” issued by a city you previously lived in, and register. A guarantor is required for most contracts. Saga University will be the guarantor when the landlord agrees to Saga University&#8217;s guarantee conditions and the international student enrolls in the &#8220;Comprehensive Compensation for Foreign Student Housing&#8221; (insurance). The &#8220;Application for Guarantor&#8221; and &#8220;Letter of Guarantee&#8221; forms are included in the materials distributed to international students. Please submit (1) Application for Guarantor, (2) Contract Letter, and (3) Letter of Guarantee to the International Office. After the next day of submission, you will be given a &#8220;payment slip,&#8221; so please come to the International Office to pick it up and pay the insurance premiums, etc. at a Seven-Eleven convenience store. After the International Office confirms the payment, the guarantor will be processed.
